What am I taking with me on the trip? Updated checklist

Have you started to get organised for the trip? I’ve personally been to Freiburg and the Black Forest over half term and I am now very excited to show pupils what a fabulous part of the world we are off to!!! I am very looking forward to this!!!

This below is the UPDATED LIST of stuff to take. Please find in bold additional things that are not included in the list given at the parents’ information evening in May, but that I think will come in very useful.

  • On the day we leave: please have your Freiburg polo T-shirt on (if you didn’t buy a polo, then a blue T-shirt will be fine) and something a bit warmer for the cable car as soon as we arrive in Freiburg. Remember to bring what you need on the coach (including a pen) as we will not have access to our luggages until the evening of the first day in Germany.
  • GENERAL 1: food for first day, personal medications, sun cream and after sun, money pouch/belt, small bag/ rucksack for the coach journey and the daily trips out, biros/pens for trip activities booklet, cap/sunhat, sunglasses , water bottle, lunch box for hostel’s packed lunch, camera, travel adapter, small suitcase for clothes (not accessible during the coach journey), power banks for electronic devices.
  • GENERAL 2- CLOTHES: enough changes of clothes for 5 days, clothes suitable for all weather (hot and rain- good idea to bring one waterproof item), it’s advisable to wear jeans (possibly not ripped), comfy shoes/ trainers (for a lot of walking), a T-shirt with a sweater if cold (temperatures can drop easily in the night or when we will be on the mountain coaster and the cable car), underwear (1 set a day per 5 days). NO short shorts or short skirts, NO dolly shoes or heels, NO crop tops. Clothing must be relaxed but modest and not revealing for both boys and girls. We represent our school.
  • COACH: pillow, food and snacks for first day, drinks (no cans), personal medication, travel sickness remedies (in the Black Forest there are several winding roads!), power bank.
  • HOSTEL: the hostel provides us only with bed linens but pupils will have to fit them themselves. Please practise how to fit mattress cover / duvet cover/ pillow cases! πŸ™‚ No handwash liquid or towels provided. You will have to take your own handwash liquid/ soap, shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer, bathrobe/ towels, toiletries and, if you want, a multi socket (some of the rooms have only one socket per room!).
  • SWIMMING: appropriate swimwear, towel to lie on sun beds and towel to dry off, flip flops to walk around the pool. If parents have given consent for their child to participate to the swimming activity but they still think their child is not confident enough to swim, it would be a good idea to provide their child with inflatable armbands. In any case myself and the other members of staff will make a final decision on whether it is safe to allow the child to swim.
  • MOUNTAIN COASTER: it might be cold and windy while you go higher in altitude with the cable car and then go down with speed on the coaster, so it is advisable to wear something warmer and maybe something to protect your hands from the cold.

ONE MORE THING: on the return day to England, pupils will be asked to contact parents to let them know a more precise time of arrival at the Chantry. Please ensure you are available to pick up your child as soon as possible.

Bye for now! DANKE SCHΓ–N!!!
